In July 2026, Nepali media exposed betting sites posing as eSewa partners. The domains included esewa12.app, esewa12.org and esewa12casino.com. They targeted Nepali users during the FIFA World Cup 2026.

- A payment brand in the domain name is a warning sign.

Can eSewa Freeze Your Account?
Yes. Nepal Rastra Bank has warned that wallets used to pay betting sites will be suspended. In March 2026, the Prime Minister’s Office ordered action against wallets found facilitating betting. A frozen wallet can lock your balance while the case is reviewed. Neither eSewa nor NRB publishes what happens to a frozen balance.
